Background and Experience

Rose trained as a primary school teacher and taught in Southland and South Otago before moving to Special Education in 1999 and retraining as an Educational Psychologist at Massey University.

Rose has always had an interest in helping children with challenging behaviours and learning difficulties. With a career spent in the education sector, she has worked with families, schools, early childhood providers and social agencies to support students to be successful at school and at home. She has skills and expertise in school behaviour systems work. Rose has worked with Oranga Tamariki social workers to complete educational assessments and plans for young people in the Youth Justice system.

Rose held the role of Behaviour Service Lead with the Ministry of Education, training and supervising psychologists and Special Education Advisors in their work supporting children and educational facilities across Canterbury.

She has 20+ years’ experience in training and supporting schools to respond to traumatic incident events.

Rose draws from a wide range of psychological, educational, trauma-informed and behavioural theory. She works from an ecological perspective and helps clients find practical solutions that work for them.

 Rose holds a current Children’s Worker Safety Check Certificate (Children’s Act, 2014).
