Children & Adults

Services for Children & Young People

Children and young people are part of a family / whanau unit and usually an education community. Rose believes that children do best when therapeutic interventions are provided in the context of their wider social connections and supports.

A child can benefit from many therapeutic opportunities every day when supported by familiar people with whom they feel safe and cared for. As a psychologist Rose offers her skills and knowledge to the child and their team, to work together to achieve positive outcomes.

Areas for assessment and intervention include:

  • Learning difficulties

  • Behaviour problems in education or at home (e.g., physical aggression, swearing, stealing, tantrums)

  • School avoidance or refusal

  • Mild anxiety

  • Difficulty with organisational skills

  • Social interaction challenges

  • Self-regulation and anger management

  • Grief and loss (e.g., loss of parent or sibling, parental separation)

How Rose Works

1. Consultation / Assessment

Once you agree to work together, Rose will complete an initial assessment so she understands the situation. Rose uses a range of assessment tools and activities including interviews, observations, educational or psychological assessments, and review of any previous reports.

2. Assessment Summary

Rose will provide a brief summary of the assessment outcomes (verbal or written).

3. Collaborative planning

Rose will work with parents / caregivers, the child and others to develop a plan. This may include individual therapy, skill development, family and / or school strategies, or the option of more in-depth assessment, if required.

4. Support to implement the plan

Rose will schedule regular sessions for support and to review progress. Meetings may be in person, online, or a phone call.

5. Review and next steps

At the end of the agreed service, Rose and the team will review whether they have met their goals or if there is a need for further recommendations and support.

Please note: Rose is not able to provide diagnostic assessments for ADHD, ASD or dyslexia

Services for Adults

Rose offers a range of assessments and supports for adults with ADHD, ASD or other concerns (diagnosed or not), who may benefit from opportunities to work on organisational and executive function skills, social skills, managing emotions and self-regulation strategies.
